Financial institutions run on models, and their risk, pricing and performance governs success or failure in the markets. These models can only ever be limited approximations of reality, and their accuracy and reliability will therefore always be limited.

Yet until recently, there has been little focus on model risk management as a core risk management discipline, something which is so fundamentally important that it affects the bedrock of a financial institution. All this is about to change
